Adam’s Game Release Calendar

It is that time of year where I look at the release of games and highlight my excitement for a variety of new games. 2023 was a great year for game releases and 2024 is starting off with a bang. I will go month by month for the releases I am most excited about.

January

January 26th Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

RGG doesn’t miss with any of their titles. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth looks like another promising story, great gameplay, and a cadre of side games and adventures. I am very excited for what is to come on my playthrough of Infinite Wealth. Very few games talk about the underworld of criminal activity and its effect on main stage players as well as how leaders abuse the underworld for their own benefit as well as the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.

February

February 1st Granblue Fantasy Relink

I’ve heard a lot about this game but have never heard of the series myself. This will definitely be a game to check out in the future. A lot of people I know are super excited for this one so that has definitely raised my attention to it.

February 2nd Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload will be a great game. A strong premise with new scenes, gameplay, and mechanics. I may not replay this right away since I just had a playthrough with the release of Persona 3 Portable but I will get to this game sometime during this year.

February 16th Skull and Bones

Skull and Bones has gone through development hell. I hope it is a good pirate adventure. It’ll be a game I will be watching though I have often tired of Ubisoft’s open world formula. This could be something great or a dumpster fire.

February 29th Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

There are very few words I can say to show my excitement. FF VII was the first RPG game I saw played and it changed my approach and the games I liked. I played a lot of platformers, sports games, and arcade style games as a kid until I saw Final Fantasy VII. The imagination of Mako Energy and its planet draining power, the resistance movement Avalanche fighting as a small force and the dangers of corporate power. I didn’t realize any of these lessons as a 10 year-old but I have played through OG FF VII 3-4 times and gained different lessons each time I played. It’ll be a time to remember.

March

March 8th Unicorn Overload

Vanillaware has what looks to be a masterpiece. Known for their 2-D side scrolling games like Odin Sphere, this is going to be a war strategy game. This new IP is the one of which I am looking forward to most this year. There looks like there will be great character development, interesting combat, and several factions with integrated histories. I like seeing new IP so I’m pleased this looks to be so good. When so many games are iterations with a label, having something brand new is great.

March 22nd Princess Peach Showtime

Princess Peach finally gets her own game and while there will be a relatively simple story. It’s notable that Peach has her own game and limited edition pink joy-cons.

April

April 22nd Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

I pre-ordered this game before the pandemic on Kickstarter. It is finally getting a release date. I loved Suikoden III on PS2 and Eiyuden Chronicle is the spiritual successor to the Suikoden series. 100 heroes with unique combat capabilities and an interweaving story. The world was previewed last year with Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising and there was a great system of leveling the town. Rabbit and Bear Studios has been very clear on their production updates throughout the whole Kickstarter process. It was fun to see the development updates as I had not had that experience before.

Games without Release Dates

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Into Daybreak

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Into Daybreak 2 (They are already advertising Kai no Kiseki which is Trails Into Daybreak 3 so it’s possible we get both this year and Kai no Kiseki in 2025.)

Avowed (I want XBOX to have a top notch game)

Hades 2

Metaphor Re:Fantazzio

Suikoden 1 & 2 Remastered

Visions of Mana

Conclusion

So many games are coming out in the first half of the year. And there are a few games I haven’t heard much about yet. Some releases are aren’t guaranteed for this year and there will be more surprises to come. Thanks to Gamespot.com for giving me a reminder of the game calendar for the year.
